Spiritual Formation

Christ Church Cathedral offers classes and opportunities to grow as a follower of Jesus and live out the life-giving, liberating, way of love.

The Episcopal Faith 101

In the Episcopal Church, sacraments work as mile markers along our lifelong journey to become more like Jesus. Sacraments are “outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace.” (The Book of Common Prayer, p. 857) Holy Baptism and the Eucharist (or Holy Communion) are the two great sacraments given by Christ to his Church. In addition to these two, there are other spiritual markers in our journey of faith that can serve as means of grace, including Confirmation, which is the adult affirmation of our baptismal vows.

Where are you at in your spiritual journey? If you have never been baptized, or confirmed, or would like to learn more about the sacraments, please sign up for the next Journey of Faith Class. This 4-week class will help you discern where you are at on your journey, and prepare you to experience the sacraments and be prayed for. Education for Ministry (EfM)

Education for Ministry (EfM) is a unique four-year distance learning certificate program in theological education based upon small-group study and practice. Since its founding in 1975, this international program has assisted more than 120,000 participants in discovering and nurturing their call to Christian service. EfM helps the faithful encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition and bring it into conversation with their experiences of the world as they study, worship, and engage in theological reflection together.

The program invites participants into small, mentored groups that provide the framework for understanding life and shaping actions as the Christian faith is deepened. EfM seminar groups meet in local settings and online and provide a four-year curriculum that develops a theologically informed, reflective, and articulate laity.

You do not have to complete all 4 years of the program or complete it in 4 years. New participants are welcome.
