Auditioning for the Choir
Do you love to sing? Then consider auditioning for a position in the Christ Church Cathedral Choir. As a cathedral chorister, you will sing at weekly Sunday morning services, monthly Evensong services, and other major liturgical observances in the church year. We also maintain a roster of substitute choristers. Positions are open for paid and volunteer choristers, as well as substitute choristers.
We hold choir auditions in late Spring and early Summer every year, as well as other times by arrangement with the director of music. The auditions are for both paid and volunteer choristers.
Those interested in auditioning should complete the form below and prepare the following:
1. A solo piece of your own choosing (e.g. a hymn, aria, art song, or spiritual)
2. Your own voice part of the following anthems, demonstrating the appropriate vocal style for each:
o Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face to Face (Whitlock)
o Let All the World in Every Corner Sing (Casurella)
3. The melody and your own voice part of Psalm 93.
The audition will also include vocalizing and sight reading.
